Event Description:

The Non-Profits in St. Lawrence County do a tremendous amount to help people out of poverty, continue education, provide parenting resources, aid with health-related illnesses, drug abuse and so much more. 

The 3rd annual Non-Profit Conference, hosted by the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce will be held at the Best Western University Inn in Canton NY. The Conference is designed to help the Non-Profits in St. Lawrence County continue their relentless work to make the communities they serve a safer and healthier place to live. This year's event is sponsored by the Northern New York Community Foundation and St. Lawrence University

The Art of Stewardship: As nonprofits continue to pursue key funding sources for their programs and services, realizing the importance of stewardship for any funding received is critical to an organization’s present and future. Stewardship should be a core value of every nonprofit’s mission. This conversation focuses on why stewardship creates stronger relationships, more funding opportunities, and the most meaningful stories to share in the community.

About the Presenters:

Laura Foster, Director, Frederick Remington Art Museum

Max DelSignore, Assistant Director, Northern New York Community Foundation, Inc.

BioThe Northern New York Community Foundation encourages and responsibly stewards charitable giving for the benefit of all citizens residing in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. Mr. DelSignore joined the Community Foundation in 2013. He helps facilitate current and future donor relationships, as well as increasing awareness of the full range of charitable giving platforms available to donors at the Community Foundation. He also oversees the organization’s two key philanthropic programs, which are the Youth Philanthropy Council for high school students and the LEAD Council for young professionals. Mr. DelSignore provides guidance and direction with a number of the Community Foundation’s grant programs. He and the Community
Foundation also partners with WPBS on the production of the “Northern New York Community Podcast” initiative.

Bio
Angela M. Gray is a Certified Public Accountant and principal in the firm of Gray & Gray and Associates Certified Public Accountants, P.C. As a public accountant with over 15 years of experience, Angela assists individuals, small business, and not for profits with their financial and tax needs. Angela has been an active board member of the NY Council of Nonprofits, Canton-Potsdam Hospital Foundation, Seaway Valley Prevention Council, Traditional Arts in Upstate New York (TAUNY), Grasse River Heritage Area Development Corp., Young Women Leadership Institute, and the Rotary Club of Canton, NY.


Diane H. Leonard, GPC, President, DH Leonard Consulting

Bio: Diane is a Grant Professional Certified (GPC) and Approved Trainer of the Grant Professionals Association. Diane is also a Certified Scrum Master and Certified Scrum Product Owner through Scrum Alliance, Inc. Since 2006, Diane and her team have secured more than $61.2 million dollars in competitive grant awards for the clients of DH Leonard Consulting & Grant Writing Services. She is an active member of the Grant Professionals Association. She is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with a Bachelor's of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations. When not working with her team on grant applications for clients, Diane can be found in the 1000 Islands, out for a run, or drinking a strong cup of coffee.


Kelsey Rebmann, Community Program Coordinator, Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York

BioKelsey is responsible in overseeing the growth and development of community-driven programs. She plans and implements presentations and events throughout the 48 county service area, speaking on the organization’s behalf while developing relationships and working to increase awareness. She presents to senior citizens about different scams specifically targeted to their generation and high school students about the importance of ethics in everyday life.
