The Norwood Village Green Concert Series, Inc., a non-profit organization founded to impact our home communities via inspiring and spirit-uplifting outdoor performances.
There is no admission charged. There is a “pass the bucket”. It was conceived and co-founded by Joseph and Harriet Liotta in 1974.
Joseph Liotta, Jon Hunkins, Dr. Peter McCoy, Andrew Van Duyne, George Biffer, Scott LaVine and Jessica Newtown serve as members of the Board of Directors of the Corporation.
Over the years the Norwood Village Green Concert Series has presented 763 performances for an audience in excess of 647,219 (revised to date August 31, 2019). The Series has been able to present two National Medal of Arts recipients, two National Heritage recipients, 17 Grammy Award winners, 2 MacArthur Genius Fellows, 2 National Fiddle Champion, a National Dulcimer Champion, an National Flatpicking Guitar Champion, a Helen Hayes Performing Artist of the Year, 15 Juno recipients, 18 International Bluegrass Music Association winners, 3 Blues Foundation Awards recipients, a Living Blues Award winner and 7 Maple Blues awardees. It also has award-winning recipients in a wide range of various other disciplines including a CMA best video award, a recipient of The Order of Canada, 3 Emmy Award recipients, 2 Guggenheim Fellowships, and The French Legion of Honneurs, along with a host of international, national, regional and local performers.
The Series prides itself in its programming for children and youth and its long history of giving opportunity for student musician performances.
